The village is located along the Altafjorden on a fairly isolated peninsula in the northeastern part of the municipality. There is one ferry connection to the rest of Norway, but no road connections. The village looks across the fjord at the large island of Seiland. The village is home to Komagfjord Church.

Dùn Ara, also known as Dùn Ara Castle or Dùn Ara Fort, is a ruined medieval castle and ancient dùn on the Isle of Mull, Argyll and Bute, Scotland. Located in Glengorm, 1.5 kilometres (1 mi) northwest of Glengorm Castle on a rocky outcrop at Sorne Point. The castle can be accessed only by sea and from a path leading from Glengorm Castle.

Menstrie Glen is the glen which separates Dumyat from Myreton Hill and the main body of the Ochil Hills in Scotland. Once farmed but no longer inhabited, it is now used for sheep pasture, a public water supply and recreation in the form of fishing and walking. It is located in the village of Dønnes on the northern part of the island of Dønna. It is one of the churches for the Dønna parish which is part of the Nord-Helgeland prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The stone church was built in a long church style during the 13th century using plans drawn up by an unknown architect.
